Spinal column : Quadruped Animals vs. Human Beings

When comparing quadrupeds and biped humans, notable differences emerge.

Quadrupeds are four-legged; humans are bipedal (two-legged).

Support Base ; Quadrupeds have four-point support; humans have two-point (bipedal).

Load Distribution ; Quadrupeds distribute weight across four limbs; humans bear weight vertically on two legs.

Curvatures ; The human spinal column has Curvatures for physical stability.Areas where spinal curvature changes tend to have more movement, making them potentially vulnerable.
Weak Links ; These transition zones can be prone to stress, strain, collapse — reflecting physical laws.

Quadrupeds have a spinal column parallel to the ground ;  Extend spinal column horizontally (head to tail) with support from four legs, aiding stability on ground.
Humans have a spinal column perpendicular to the ground ; Balance spinal column vertically on two legs, with arms (hands) free for other functions.

Postural demand ; where gravity assists in spinal stability, allowing them to expand and elongate their spine horizontally from head towards tail.

Muscular Movement Essential ;  Coordination with extremities (limbs) and muscular action is vital for spinal column function.

In contrast, biped humans have a spinal column perpendicular to the ground ; with gravity exerting a strong force that makes spinal extension challenging. Human upright posture imposes specific stresses where curvature changes and movement is more .Unfortunately, humans often neglect to make ideal efforts to extend their spinal column, leading to issues like slumping forward, curving back, rounding shoulders, and shrinking towards gravity, ultimately contributing to degeneration and spinal problems at an early age.

Spinal Extension and Elongation :
Therefore, humans must consciously and continuously extend and elongate their spinal column, avoiding forward or backward bending. Instead, we should:
– Learn forward extension and further evolve to backward extension
– Elongate muscles attached to the spinal column from head to tail
– Utilize muscular movement of both girdles
– Counteract gravitational force (downward direction towards feet)
– Create anti-gravitational force (upward direction towards the head)

By doing so, we can promote spinal health, improve posture, and reduce the risk of spinal-related issues.

– The spine’s collective movement includes forward, backward, rotational, and sliding movements.
– The sliding movement, often forgotten, involves upward movement from the front and downward movement from the back.

Additionally, modern times have led to reduced mobility in key joints:
– Hip joint: The pelvis should move like a hammock around the head of the thigh bone.
– Shoulder joint: The shoulder girdle should move easily around the head of the arm bone.

At hip and shoulder joints both the components move together that is the beauty and functional design of these two joints. These synchronized movements are essential for movement of the Central axis – Skull – spinal column with ribcage.

As our spine is perpendicular and a reverse pendulum to the hip joint, the forward and backward movement of the spine occurs with the pelvic girdle rotating around the hip joint. To maintain the spine’s movement as a unified entity composed of multiple smaller segments, each vertebra must adjust slightly, either backward or forward. This requires elasticity and extensibility of muscles, two vital properties that enable smooth motion. The movement between consecutive vertebrae is subtle and skilled, but collectively, the spine moves forward, backward, rotationally, and in a crucial sliding motion—upward from the front and downward from the back—which is often overlooked. This sliding movement is essential for proper forward and backward extension before attempting hyperextension. Unfortunately, modern lifestyles have led to a loss of ideal mobility in both the hip and shoulder joints. The pelvis should move fluidly like a hammock around the head of the thigh bone, and the shoulder girdle should glide effortlessly around the head of the arm bone. The effects of body weight transmission, weight bearing , directional movement of muscles and its force —weather in sitting , standing, from  walking, running, jumping, —are easy  or less harmful by the rotational movements of the shoulder and pelvic girdles with vertical elongation of the spinal column. These movements help balance gravitational and anti-gravitational forces with anti clockwise and clockwise motion preserving the integrity of spinal discs and curvatures.

To achieve this balance, prioritizing spinal elongation is essential. Without the rotational movement of the girdles in an upward direction that is towards the head , maintaining both physical stability and mobility would be challenging. Stability enables smooth, effortless movement, while instability often leads to imbalances and noticeable symptoms.

Once we  have the ability to expand from the spine with vertical rotation of both girdles. Then  we  have the key for not only just relieving back pain or any other pain  but removing its root causes and living a disease free and healthy life. Further we can do very safe and effective ‘backbends’ /hyper  extension of spine postures under expert guidance only.

Beauty of these  forward Extension –
*They help create length and space in each consecutive Vertebrae to counteract compression,
“From head and tail we have to expand our Paraspinal musculature without compressing our column from back and front side.
* Expanding our superficial wings like muscles for expansion of ribcage.
*The way we make efforts in forward expansion helps to create spaces in all body cavities like chest – abdomen – pelvis cavities and skull cavities.
*One must understand the relationship of vertebral spaces and these body cavities situated in front of our spine
*Understand relationship between the  role of extremity and our central axis is the most important factor to work within.This definitely helps for the regeneration process against degeneration of cells for genetic evolution.

What I have  always  observed.
People make common mistakes while doing   forward extension .
First , They never bother taking care of weak links in our spine. Areas where  curvature changes , movement is more. Thus  breaking these links  and bringing more pressure on our vertibral column in many forward and backward bending poses is common.
This leads towards distortion of vertibral joints , vertibral space , vertibral foreman and front  body cavities. Which brings Chaos within our own body ,where we lose our Immunity. All these process  leads towards degeneration of tissues  at a very  early age.
